Agreement to Terms
Welcome to Stowmarket Life. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website stowmarket.life (the “Service”), operated by 41Flow Ltd (trading as Stowmarket Life) (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.
About Our Service
Stowmarket Life is a community platform that provides information about local events, activities, and happenings in and around Stowmarket, Suffolk. Our Service includes:
- Event listings and information
- Activities listings — clubs, groups & classes
- A directory of local businesses and services
- Local stories and articles about Stowmarket
- Newsletter subscription for updates
- Community information and resources
Browsing Stowmarket Life and having a basic business listing are free. Claiming and keeping the basic details up to date are free too. Pro is an optional paid subscription for extra features. Its price and billing frequency are shown before you pay. Any separate sponsorship fee is agreed in advance.
Where content on our website is sponsored or paid for, it will be clearly identified as such.
Acceptable Use
When using our Service, you agree to:
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes
- Respect the rights and privacy of others
- Provide accurate information when subscribing to our newsletter
- Provide accurate and truthful information when submitting listings
You must not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or data
- Use automated systems to scrape or harvest data from our website
- Distribute malware or engage in any activity that could harm our Service
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications
Listing Information Disclaimer
Important notice
While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any event, activity, or listing details displayed on our Service.
Please note the following regarding listings:
- Verification: We recommend verifying details directly with the organiser before attending any event or activity
- Changes: Events and activities may be cancelled, rescheduled, or modified without notice to us
- Third-Party Listings: We are not the organisers of events or activities listed on our platform unless explicitly stated
- No Endorsement: Listing an event, activity, or article does not constitute our endorsement or recommendation
Business Directory
Our business directory is an index of businesses trading in and around Stowmarket. Many listings are compiled from public records and our own research rather than submitted by the business — see Your Listing and Data Sources.
Please understand what a listing is and isn't:
- No vetting: We do not check qualifications, licences, insurance, registrations, or the quality of anyone's work. A listing is not a background check.
- No endorsement: Appearing in our directory — including as a paid or promoted listing — is not a recommendation, an approval, or a statement that a business is any good.
- No food hygiene ratings: We do not display food hygiene ratings. Some of our listings begin from Food Standards Agency records, but we do not check food safety and nothing here should be read as saying we have. Current ratings are published by the FSA.
- We are not a broker: We do not arrange work, take bookings or handle payments between residents and listed businesses, or act as an agent for those businesses. Any contract for their goods or services is directly between you and that business.
- Details go out of date: Opening hours, phone numbers, prices, and whether a business is still trading can change without anyone telling us. Check with the business before relying on anything.
Choosing who to hire or buy from is your decision, and any dispute is between you and the business concerned. We can't resolve it, and we are not liable for the work they do or fail to do. We would still like to know — if a listing is misleading, tell us and we will look at it.
Pro subscriptions
Pro is a subscription for one claimed business listing. The Pro page describes the features included. Buying Pro does not mean we endorse the business or guarantee enquiries or sales.
Pro is sold to businesses for business purposes, not to consumers. The statutory right to cancel that comes with consumer purchases does not apply to it. The refunds below are our own policy.
Payment and renewal
The current list price is £30 a month, or £25 a month, billed yearly (£300). There is no VAT to add. Stripe takes payment in advance and your subscription renews automatically at your chosen monthly or yearly interval until cancelled. Checkout shows the amount and billing frequency before you confirm payment.
We will email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.
Use Manage plan in your dashboard to open Stripe's billing portal, update payment details, view invoices or switch billing frequency. The portal shows any adjustment for unused time before you confirm a switch.
Cancellation
You can cancel from Manage plan at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep Pro until the end date shown in your dashboard, then the listing returns to Free. Cancelling a subscription and asking us to remove a listing are separate actions. For billing questions or refund requests, contact hello@stowmarket.life.
We may end a subscription immediately after a chargeback, when a claim to the listing is disputed or turns out to be mistaken, before we archive or remove the listing, or if these Terms are breached. Any refund follows the refund terms below.
Refunds
- Monthly: No refunds. Cancel at any time and you keep Pro to the end of the month you have paid for.
- Yearly, within 14 days: If you ask us to cancel within 14 days of a yearly payment, whether it is your first payment or a renewal, we refund that payment in full and Pro ends straight away. Cancelling in Manage plan alone keeps Pro to the end of the year without a refund, so ask us within those 14 days.
- Yearly, after 14 days: No refund. Pro runs to the end date shown in your dashboard.
- If we end it early: When the reason is not your fault, for example a listing linked to your account by mistake, we refund the part you have not used. We give no refund when we end it after a chargeback, after a disputed claim to the listing is decided against you, or for a breach of these Terms.
- Founding places: A founding subscriber who takes the 14-day refund has used their place. It does not go back into the round.
Founding discount
Where a founding place is available, the offer is 40% off the list price for as long as you stay subscribed. At today's prices that is £18 a month, or £15 a month, billed yearly (£180). The discount continues when you switch between monthly and yearly billing. If the list price changes, the percentage discount stays the same; the amount you pay can change, with the 30 days' notice described above.
The discount ends when the subscription ends. It is not reserved for a later subscription or transferred to a replacement owner.
When Pro ends
If a payment fails, Pro remains available while Stripe retries the payment. Stripe sends payment reminders. If the payment is not recovered and the subscription is cancelled, the listing returns to Free.
Your basic listing stays. Photos, price lists and extra questions remain saved for when you subscribe again. Events and activities you published stay published. You can unpublish or delete them, but you cannot edit or republish them until you subscribe again, and other features that require Pro stop being available. A review-card link you have already set up continues to work, including if the business listing is later removed, unless we disable it because it is being misused.
Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by 41Flow Ltd (trading as Stowmarket Life) and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
- Our Content: All text, graphics, logos, and design elements created by us are our property
- Listing Content: Event and activity details, images, and article content may be owned by their respective organisers or authors
- Permitted Use: You may view, download for personal use, and share links to our content for non-commercial purposes
User Submissions
By submitting content to Stowmarket Life — including event details, activity information, images, or any other material — you:
- Grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, display, and promote your submission on our website and associated channels
- Confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to submit any images or content provided
- Confirm that your submission is accurate to the best of your knowledge
- Understand that we may edit submissions for clarity, or reject them if they do not meet our standards
If you manage a business listing
Once you have claimed a listing, anything you add to it — photos, your logo, descriptions, opening hours, and any price list — is your content and your responsibility. In particular:
- Images: You must own the photographs you upload or have permission to use them. Don't upload pictures taken from someone else's website or a stock library you aren't licensed for.
- Prices: Prices you publish are yours, not ours. Keeping them accurate and honest — and meeting the consumer law that applies to how you advertise them — is your responsibility.
- Accuracy: Describe what your business actually does. Don't claim qualifications, accreditations, or memberships you don't hold.
- Our discretion: We may edit or remove content on a listing, or unpublish the listing, if it is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, or not what this directory is for.
Service Availability
We reserve the right to:
- Remove or edit any listing at our discretion, including content that is inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate
- Suspend or terminate access to the Service for users who breach these Terms
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, 41Flow Ltd shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service
- Any errors or omissions in event, activity, article, or business directory information
- Service interruptions or technical issues
- Actions of third-party organisers or listing submitters
- The acts or omissions of any business listed in our directory, including the quality, safety, legality, or timeliness of goods or services you obtain from them
External Links
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services, including event and activity organiser websites and social media pages.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- For significant changes, we may notify newsletter subscribers
- Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms
Governing Law & Severability
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
