You first book a Baby Sensory class for your baby, but you leave having created so many memories together, as well as finding new mum friends who you see every week. You talk about sleep regressions and weaning, and hopefully have plenty of fun along the way!
It really is such a privilege to meet wonderful local families at the same baby group where it all started for me.
I’m Alex, a business owner and mum of two. Four months into running my own Baby Sensory classes, it still feels strange calling myself a small business owner, but it really is such a privilege to meet wonderful local families at the same baby group where it all started for me.
When a friend who had a baby three weeks after me suggested going to a Baby Sensory class together, I said, “Yes, what a great way to get me out of the house!” It was the first baby group I had been to. The theme was Rainbow Week, so I dressed Harrison in his brightest outfit and off we went.
Little did I know that two years later, I would buy the business and take over just after finishing Baby Sensory classes with my youngest son. I was so excited to begin running a class I had attended back-to-back for two years.
Some of you might remember that I was still attending classes at 39 weeks pregnant with my youngest! I was hooked from that first class, not only because of the time spent with my children, but also because of the friends I made, the ideas I gained for activities at home and the song that still gets my eldest to sleep at night.
What do you enjoy most about running Baby Sensory classes?
I love that every week is different, with a new theme and new activities, songs and equipment. Baby Sensory is the original baby group and is celebrating 20 years this year. Our classes are research-based, so every activity, song and movement is used to support your baby’s development.
I also love getting to know mums and babies in my local area, having grown up and lived in Stowmarket for most of my life.
What would you say to someone coming to a class for the first time?
I would say, do it!
Whether you don’t know anyone with a baby of a similar age or you have already made new friends and want to come along together, Baby Sensory is a judgement-free class that is fun for you and your baby. Hopefully, it will become part of your routine during your baby’s first year.
Where can people find and book your sessions?
We still have one week left of our Summer Mini Term, which could be the perfect first session for you. The theme is Summer Carnival!
Bookings are also open for the Autumn Term, starting on 7 September and Wednesday 9 September in Stowmarket.
You can book Baby Sensory classes online. I currently run sessions across four days, and we are starting at a new venue in Thurston in September.
If you have any questions before booking, please get in touch. You can also follow Baby Sensory Bury St Edmunds on Instagram and Facebook to see what we get up to in class.
