Join Vivienne Kanharn (Silver with Frills) as she returns for a fun workshop creating adjustable silver rings from start to finish!
Each person will be provided with 7 gms of silver clay to work with and create your piece, or pieces. Once you are happy with your pieces, they will need to dry. This will be a good time for a break, where you can stretch your legs and enjoy some snacks, cake, and refreshments. If you have any allergies, please let us know.
Once the clay is dry, you will refine your pieces with various files and sanding pads to make sure the sides and backs are smooth before firing with a handheld torch. This may take some time, as you will be given a quick demonstration and then Vivienne will assist each person in firing.
Pieces will then be hand polished, and you can choose to patina with liver of sulphur if desired before finally using a burnisher to bring out highlights.
Everyone will be given a sterling silver chain for your pendant, or some sterling silver ear wires if you make one of these in addition to your ring, which will be attached to your pieces to finish.
⚠️ Some parts of this workshop can get messy/dusty, so you might like to wear clothes you don't mind getting a little mucky!
